Former Iowa Energy forward Jarnell Stokes was added to the Denver Nuggets’ training camp roster and will compete for a final roster spot when the Nuggets open training camp on Sept. 27.
On Sept. 4 Chris Dempsey of the Denver Post reported the news.

Stokes was named MVP of the NBA Development League during the 2015-16 season with the Sioux Falls Skyforce. Stokes also earned NBA D-League First Team honors averaging 20.6 points, 9.3 rebounds, 1.1 assists, and 1.1 steals per game.

The University of Tennessee product and Memphis native was drafted in the second round of the 2014 NBA draft. During the 2014-15 season Stokes split time between Des Moines and Memphis, receiving multiple NBA call-ups. In 23 games with the Energy, Stokes averaged a double-double with 15.1 points and 11.3 rebounds per game.
After bouncing between multiple teams in the 2015-16 season, Stokes found a home with the Sioux Falls Skyforce, leading them to a D-League Championship and earned call-ups from the Grizzlies and Miami Heat.
Stokes is expected to compete for the Nuggets final roster spot against fellow invitees: Robbie Hummel, D.J. Kennedy and Alex Toupane, JaKarr Sampson, and Nate Wolters.
